PPS (polyphenylene sulfide)

Injection Molding Resin: Polyphenylene Sulfide (PPS)

PPS (polyphenylene sulfide) is one of many engineering plastic materials that Springboard uses to produce precision injection molded parts. Considered an exotic resin, PPS offers a wide range of advantages, including:

  • Excellent strength
  • High heat resistance
  • 21,800 psi tensile strength
  • UL 90 V-0 flame rating
  • Chemical resistance
  • Good electrical properties
  • Good dimensional stability

This engineering plastic does have a few disadvantages, including brittleness and tendency to warp. It’s important to understand how PPS will react to different environments and circumstances before you decide which resin to use for your application.
